| Customer Reviews: A great present. May 12, 2009 M. M. Webzell 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
After a lot of research into a suitable hammer drill for our son's birthday present it was decided the Draper 40763 was the one to buy. We compared prices from other Companies and found Amazon's price excellent. It is a lovely product, beautifullly packed and does all the necessary jobs required around the house. Our son is over the moon with it, and pleased with its performaance.
The usual Draper top quality. Good to use too. March 6, 2010 Jeremy Prior (United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My mains powered drill packed up after some years of use and so I went for Draper cordless because I've bought Draper stuff before and been delighted with the build-quality and ease of use.
This Draper cordless hammer drill is really good.
Plenty of extras supplied with it without extra charge. Drills and spare battery.
I've never used a cordless before and I was quite surprised that the speed of the chuck is not as fast as a mains-powered drill but that has a good side to it, as you can't easily overheat a drill-bit or find it snaps during drilling. The important thing is the torque. Bags of that to spare.
I was a bit puzzled that the charger has no "battery full" indicator light and the instructions advise that if you charge it for more than 6 hours you could damage it. So that's not a good safety feature. If you wanted to charge it overnight you can't you have to be in attendance and make sure you remind yourself to go and switch off the charger when its had 3 to 5 hours. Again that is a bit vague because how do we know if 3 hours is enough or whether it needs 5? Silly mistake on the part of the makers.
Anyhow when you compare the price with those very heavy duty ones that builders use, it looks like a bargain and I've used mine today for the first time and it drilled a hole through a thick doorpost frame without any problem at all.
It's nice to handle and gets a 9.9 out of 10 for being a very usable and good value product.
Nicely priced by Amazon too.

Value for money July 3, 2009 M. Pemberton (U.K.) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Usual Amazon service - quick and efficient. Initial impressions of the drill are that it is well made and that it works well. As yet I have not asked the difficult questions of its capabilities.
Cordless Drill September 10, 2009 Barry A. Palmer (Essex UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Have already given it fair use and found this drill to be very good. Handy set of drills and bits inside the case. But the real bonus is the second battery. This drill was purchased to replace another very well known make of cordless drill where the battery was no longer holding a charge for very long when in use. On enquiring for a replacement battery for it found out that it was the same cost as the new Draper. Not happy with the total wastage of a perfectly good drill and the throw away society implications. But had to be pratical, so went for the new drill option.

A good value DIY tool December 19, 2009 Jeremy Buckman 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's early days to tell how robust this drill will prove to be but I'm pleased with it so far because it is lighter than some I've tried and that makes a difference if you're working with it above your head. The price seemed attractive enough for me to buy two units so that I could have a drill in one and a screwdriver in the other and it gives me the benefit of having four batteries! The only thing to look out for is that the lights on the battery charger don't seem to indicate when the battery is fully charged. I think it's good value for money.
